We Are Not Like Them
Christine Pride
This book ran me through an emotional roller coaster. I couldn’t “pick sides” and felt all sorts of love, hate, hope, and anguish while still keeping me on the edge of my seat. I haven’t read a book so quickly in such a long time. I cannot wait to read more by Christine Pride & Jo Piazza.

How To Be Dateable
Julie Krafchick
If you're autistic and want to learn to defy odds and actually meet someone this book isn't for you. If your an average joe looking to meet your right person, this book STILL isn't for you. If you have a bunch of mutual friends, can basically meet people anytime you like, have high social intelligence, and for some reason play stupid "games" like not wanting to "seem desperate" by "texting first" then this book is basically just right for you to get you out of this toxic "social game" mindset when dating and will help you be authentic.

The Inheritance
Trisha Sakhlecha
This novel of suspense takes place on a remote Scottish island, where a family from India gathers together for a celebration. The expansive property on the island belongs to one of the daughters. It's a story where the reader thinks they know the makeup of the characters, but I was thrown as I read, as not one of them seems as they appear. Each of these family members have their secrets, but there is one main one that binds them all (no spoiler alert). To me, the most elusive was the matriarch. The author has an interesting and very diverse background: she worked in government as a diplomat, and in the fashion industry as a business consultant, designer, and trend forecaster.

The Night Fire
Michael Connelly
Michael Connelly writes interesting crime dramas. The plot always has a twist that keeps the reader turning the pages. The connections between the cases in this book provides a unique ending.

The Coldest Winter Ever
Sister Souljah
This book does a good job of showing real life issues and the consequences as well as the “benefits” of hustler life styles

Judgement Calls
Alafair Burke
It was okay. I figured out who did it, but I felt like the middle drug but then they wrapped it up too quickly at the end. Not my favorite of hers.

The Restoration Of Celia Fairchild
Marie Bostwick
A lovely feel good story that touches on generational family struggles and the power of chosen family.

The Persians
Sanam Mahloudji
The novel is a story of multigenerational ex-pat Iranians who are living in America. The most interesting character is Elizabeth, who went against custom in her youth, (but I won't give a spoiler as to what occurs at the end of the book). The middle Eastern culture is fascinating and is woven throughout the tome. The colorful jacket caught my eye as I viewed suggestions as to what to read next in emails from various book publishers.

Wonder Woman Vol. 1: Outlaw
Tom King
Wow! Just absolutely wow! Good superhero comics are supposed to be a foil for real life and Tom King's "Wonder Woman" run does not disappoint. In a world where Wonder Woman often goes against major superpowered players it is an odd pleasure to see her fight be one against institutionalized and systemic misogyny in the form of the secret king of the United States. Wonder Woman is as much a symbol of hope as Superman is, but she also represents truth, love, and faith. Each of these aspects comes to bear in some way in her fight against the overt military might of the United States Armed Forces. I look forward to continuing this series, Wonder Woman written well ranks highly in my opinion of DC superheroes.
